draft 1! only gets better from here!
This was one of my presents for my DIY valentines day theme. My roomie loves tiny hats, and when I was browsing one idea was a pillbox hat, but I had no such box to make it from! So me doing one or two sketches loosely based off the audrey kitching hat I came up with this! I feel like the headand could definitely improve, but I tried to make this all one peice that could be a quick "in class" creatable (one you could make mindlessly either at work or in class that has direct patterns)

I will divide the steps into 3 peices, the heart itself, forming it into a box, and the headband :3 hope you have fun, and pictures are appreciated as always

  • Step 1

    Step one is the heart!

    chain 2
    1.2sc in 2nd chain ch1 and turn (2)
    2.2sc, 2sc ch1 and turn (4)
3.*2sc, sc until last, 2sc* ch1 and turn*
    4.*sc across ch1 and turn*
    5. row 3
    6. row 3
    7. row 4
    8-9: row 3
    10-12: row 4
divide between 7th and 8th stitch,
ch1 and turn sc2tog, sc three times, sc2tog
(here pay attention! youre working 2 parts so if youve hit the end of the full heart youve gone too far!)
ch1 and turn (trust me!) sc2tog, sc, sc2tog, ch1 and turn
(here are youre new options, you can either finish as sc3tog or do sc2tog sc ch1 turn sc2tog, but sc3tog sounds easier)

    and I LIED D:

cut off here and then restart at the 8th stitch and basically do what you did with the first half

  • Step 2

now to box it, sc around, this will give you a solid base to work with. in blo (back loop only) sc around, it sould give it a boxy looking edge
sc in both loops for 2-4 more rows(in the round), when you get to the last row, ch1 and turn

  • Step 3

this is very changable! for the band, sc in 5 stitches in blo, ch1 and turn then sc in both loops. do this for the legnth you want and connect with sc and bind off. you got your headband!

I did this in an hour, it worked up faster than i thought!
