Step 1
Make a note of what color of the colorway you begin with, chain 36 (40, 44, 48). Join with a slip st to form a ring.
Round 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc in the same ch as the slip st, sc in the next ch, *ch 2, skip the next 2 ch, sc in each of the next 2 ch; repeat from the * around, ending with ch 2; join with a slip st to the top of the first sc—9 (10, 11, 12) ch-2 sps.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), skip the st where the last slip st was worked, dc in the next sc, *ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp, dc in each of the next 2 sc; repeat from the * around, ending with ch 2; join with a slip st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in the same st as the slip st, sc in the next dc, *ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 2 dc; repeat from the * around, ending with ch 2; join with a slip st to the top of the first sc.
Rounds 4–21: Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 ten times.
Round 22 (thumbhole round): Ch 3, skip the st where the last slip st was worked, dc in the next sc, ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp, dc in each of the next 2 sc, ch 6, skip the next ch-2 sp, skip the next 2 sc, skip the next ch-2 sp, *dc in each of the next 2 sc, ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp; repeat from the * around; join with a slip st in the top of the beginning ch-3.
Round 23: Ch 1, sc in the same st as the slip st, sc in the next dc, ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 2 dc, ch 2, skip the next 2 ch, sc in each of the next 2 ch, skip the next 2 ch, *sc in each of the next 2 dc, ch 2, skip the next ch-2 sp; repeat from the * around; join with a slip st in the first sc.
Rounds 24–29: Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 six times.
Round 30: Ch 1, *skip the next 2 sc, [sc, dc, 2 tr, dc, sc] in the next ch-2 sp; repeat from the * around; join with a slip st to the first sc. Fasten off. -
Step 2
Cuff Edging
With the RS facing, working across opposite side of foundation ch, join yarn with a slip st in any ch-2 sp, ch 1, *[sc, dc, 2 tr, dc, sc] in the ch-2 sp, skip the next 2 ch; repeat from the * around; join with a slip st in the first sc—9 (10, 11, 12) shells. Fasten off. -
