the paint doesn't go on thick because it's rubbed in with the sponge so there's minimal cracking
i actually didn't have a sponge at the time so i used a large pompom XD and i didn't need to i had all the colours i needed
nope i've washed them a good few times at this stage and they're still perfect
no i painted them laid out on the floor
my hair was actually a disgrace that day XD i just pulled it into a messy bun with a clip and tied a bandanna around my head i would upload a tutorial but sadly i was stupid and have gotten my hair cut up alot XD
how did you do your hair in the second picture? i really like it and can you explain how you did your hair (sorry for repeating myself!) i love your tutorial!
I searched for galaxy leggings and yours came up XD
Anyway I was wondering what kind of sponge you used...I've only got a bath sponge and was wondering if it would work...also did you mix your own paint?
Thanks it's great to find someone the same age as me on this
I'm just wondering with acyrlic paint on Lycra or spandex leggings, would the paint crack as the fabric was stretched by my chubby legs .. I will do this to a pair of spandex leggings and find out.
thank you for all of your comments thank you i only made these because i couldn't afford the black milk pair so it means alot for you to say that also thank you for confirming with the acrylic paint XD
ok thank you so so much for that comment it's so awesome that you'd think that
i actually prefer these to the ones someone linked to! they are a bit too shiny! i much prefer the painterly style of yours and guys acrylic lasts forever i stained sooo many items of clothing on my art foundation course!
What an awesome idea. There beautiful. May I make a suggestion. You said that you mixed the fabric paint in with the acrylic to make them more washable. I'm going to tell you how to do this in a better more long lasting way. Go to your local craft store and go to the department where they have the acrylic paint. Along with all the colors of pain they should have a small bottle of something that is usually called TEXTILE MEDIUM. Textile medium means that if you add it to your acrylic pain it makes it washable and good to use on fabric. It's fairly inexpensive. I haven't bought it in a while but I think it should only be a few dollars. Also the textile medium makes the paint more flexible, less stiff.
well i mixed my acrylic paint with fabric paint and i made these weeks ago and they've gotten a good bit of wear and they still haven't cracked
nope i laid them on the floor and painted them, i painted the other side as well, the colours never bled through. it might depend on how thick your leggings are
I was looking for leggings just like the one you made and the cheapest one I found was 75$.
but I wonder, I once tried to paint over some shoes with acrilic paint and after some use the paint simply cracked and the whole pic was destroyed. doesn't it happen with these leggings as well?
did you paint the galaxy while wearing the tights? it seems like the acrylic would crack or bleed onto the other side if you did it when they weren't stretched...
About Acrylic paint.. It's darned stubborn if you get it on your clothes once it sets.. I have ruined a good housecoat, a few pairs of pants because of them.... I'm sure these should last for quite some time!
hm i'm actually not sure about that because i won't be exercising in these leggings and i live in ireland where it's not usually hot enough to sweat but i'd doubt it because acrylic paint is very stubborn on fabric and it did'nt seep all the way through the fabric because i used thick leggings
This is sooooo pretty!!!!!!!!!!!
But would the leggings, after you wear them and you sweat, would the paint bleed off onto your legs? That's my only concern, but nice job!!!
thank you for all your comments yes the leggings were just plain black to start, i don't know yet whether they're machine washable since i only made them the other day, acrylic is quite stubborn on fabric tho and maybe try washing them inside out?
