keeping your horse chic on the cheap
I had an award halter that we had won competing last year that was all pretty on the cheeks with Swarovski crystals but the nose band left something to be desired, so I deconstructed an old belt, cut it to size, punched holes in it and refitted it to the halter, It looks way better and we get loads of compliments. It worked out well that I had an old belt with his name on it, but any belt or material will do as long as it is strong enough to still make the halter true to its purpose.

(photos are from this spring, hence his fluffy winter coat leftovers haha)

God idea! This would work great if the halter needs some repair as well. My daughter won a halter too, w/o a matching lead. We went to a leather/saddle shop and had one made super cheap, like $10 and it matched the leather color. Much nicer than trying to buy one for more $.

Thanks! I make a lot of stuff for him because A.horses are so dang expensive and B. I dig having things that I put time into and made sort of one of a kind and it's fun to find ways to repurpose tack. I appreciate the positive feedback Happy and that's awesome I have so much respect for H/J's. I rode for a long time before I got a horse too, but it's worth every penny. I hope you keep riding and get a horse someday, Maverick literally keeps me sane.(He appreciated the compliment by the way ha) You should totally try some horsey crafts too. We could start a trend Tongue

I absolutely love this! Not a lot of people DIY for their horses, so I was so happy to see this! Great job and good luck on your future projects! I wish I had a horse to make something for. I've been riding for about 11 years in the hunter/jumpers and I still have no horse. Happy
