Brazilian Opal inspired nails
Create a dazzling gemstone nail inspired by the Brazilian Opal!

Allow for adequate dry time between layers to prevent denting.

Tools you need: Dotting tool or small tipped brush, brush from inside polish bottle. Optional: tweezers.

Polish you need: bright blue, purple, pink, orange, lime green, yellow, orange, dark blue, sheer nude, glitter/cellophane polish (or loose cellophane glitter), base and top coat, Optional: white.

You Will Need

    Step 1

    After applying a base coat, randomly paint on strokes of blues using the brush inside the bottle.

    repeat using a light purple, slightly over lapping and filling in negative space.

    repeat with lime green.

    Add pink, yellow, orange and a darker blue in smaller random specks. All brush strokes should be irregular to have a more natural look. Keep in mind this stone is primarily blue in color so as to not completely cover up the lighter blue.

    using a sheer nude (like that from a traditional french manicure) apply a thin coat to create a cloudy look.

    sprinkle light blue and or white micro glitter lightly over entire coat.

    Add a second layer of the sheer nude.

    using a thin needle brush make random irregularly shaped dots using all the colors previously used.

    Using either a cellophane glitter polish or loose cellophane glitter place or paint on pieces to give that final iridescent shine to the opal. You can also add a few dots of white to mimic a stronger shine. Finish with top coat.
