One big rectangle to an awesome cloak
After a weekend of LARPing, Live Action Role Playing, with my youngest step-son, my husband decided he wanted his own cloak. I had made him one from a sheet for our 1st time, and only one so far, but it was very rough and I gave it away to one of the teenagers at the end. Since we always seem to have reasons to have things like a cloak I decided to make him a better one. Here it is, his very own cloak. The fabric came from the local Savers thrift store for $2.50 and there is still enough to make a flowy dress for me and maybe even a skirt :-) Doesn't he look proud to be Mr. blah blah blah Evil LOL

  • How to make a cape / cloak. Easy Custom Hooded Cloak - Step 1
    Step 1

As promised here is a little tutorial on how I made these easy cloaks. Please keep in mind I have not used any other patterns for them, just kind of winged it as I went :-)

    Step 2

First I took some black fabric I had laying around,it is the approximate size of a full size flat bed sheet and cut a diagonal. I folded the fabric in half, measured down about 24" down on the open side and cut a rough line then sewed on the diagonal.

Next I draw a line about 18" down, this is for pocket to put elastic through.

I cut a little strip of fabric off of the bottom for the pocket. Here you can see the idea of sewing a sleeve for the elastic.

Once I had the elastic in I sewed it down on each end. You can see the pointed hood part on the top of the picture.

    Step 7

Hand sewed a giant button I had on one side and then machine sewed a piece of leather I had with a slit in it for the button of course. That is it!!!!!!!!!! I am hoping my pictures say more then my descriptions do :-) If you have any questions please ask and I will try my best to answer.
