About
simple cow costumes for Chik-fil-a's free meal day!
These were simple, quick, and got us free meals at Chik-fil-a, on July 10th!
Every summer they have a day when everyone who comes in dressed as a cow gets a free meal. The whole meal, whichever one you want, including fries and a drink. It's totally worth looking like a dork in public, especially if you are looking for a reason to get the kids out of the house. Sofi and Isaiah(my daughter and friend's son, pictured) each got a kids meal, with a toy.)

Step 2
cut the legs off a pair of girls' tights(mine were left over from my faerie wings project) for a child's head piece.
~OR~
For an adult, cut a length of ribbon that will tie in a bow around your head-crown to base of neck-like a headband. You could also use a strip of elastic. -
Step 3
For the child's, turn inside out and sew or glue leg holes closed. Flip right side out, and doodle with cow spots. Cut two rounded triangle shaped pieces of white or beige stiffish scrap fabric, like canvas. Paint or color pink in the centers of the ears. Either stitch or glue the short sides of the triangles to the spots where the legs used to be.
~OR~ For the boy's, sew little conical horns out of the same fabric, stuff with scrap fabric, and sew over leg hole spots.

Step 4
Make tails out of a bit of scrap ribbon, braided yarn, scrap fabric, or a left over tights/pantyhose leg. Safety pin to back of pants, or tie to a piece of yarn or ribbon and tie around your waist.
The idea here is not to be the most realistic cow there, just to look as if you tried. If you're like me, free stuff/food, and an excuse to dress in costume calls to you!!!
