About
I made this for my next meeting with future inlaws (tomorrow)
It is by no means perfect.I have never made a top before, and I have never made sleeves in general before. Normally its dresses with lots of happy elastic. The whole thing is made out of satin. The top is double thickness and patterned and it is awful ABSOLUTELY awful to sew, and I really need an overlocker, if only for this reason.I did a close up of the fabric, believe it or not its 2 pound a metre from mosely, or i assume any asian area in most parts of britain. Not the same but certainly the style. I really would like to know how to make that clock go up past the 5's. It took longer than 6 hours lol.
I hit a few snags along the way, I dont use patterns at all, never have yet, and I like to think of it logically so I can understand it better, but definitely prefer to make my own pattern.
For the skirt you merely get 2 metres of both fabric- black and gold etc- cut the top skirt to less than the bottom skirt, knees or lower, whatever you prefer.hem both, sew them together at the top. use the excess material which should be the same width to make a waistband.Make 2 holes, bind them if you can, or eyeletting is better- but my eyeletter was stolen so boohoooooo.much easier to bind to the fabric with eyelets. Put in some cord, then sew the waistband on without sewing the cord. get into ur elephantine skirt and tie it down to size and voila you have an old style awesome peasant skirt. The top is another thing entirely. I misjudged how to make the panels and they went round my boobs rather than over, I added another triangular panel to both sides to stretch over.then added a hem similar to how you do a waistline. oh and i made an elasticated obi around the middle woohoo. downside, needs help getting into it. I'm sure ppl would consider this simple rather than tricky, but its my first time
