Cassettes are almost useless these days, so turn the cases in to helpful little notebooks.
This is a great way for reviving all of your old cheesy tapes and the notebooks are a perfect size to fit in a handbag.

    Step 1

    Use the cassette case to measure out how wide and how long the sheets of paper will need to be.

    Cut the pages out and create 5 signatures containing 4 pages each.

    Cut off the strip on the right hand side of the cassette case.

    Mark out 4 equally spaced marks on the strip, use this to mark the points on the middle strip of the cassette case.

    Step 5

    Take waxed thread or dental floss and stitch in the signatures using the <a href="/projects/binding_books/">book binding technique</a>.

    Step 6

    Glue a strip of ribbon along the spine.

    Step 7

    Wrap a length of elastic or thread with a bead on so that you can close the notebook and keep it secure.

Awesome idea! You could try making a 'hard-wearing' case out of the plastic part of the cassette tape, perhaps ^^ Dunno, just an idea...

ah, that is so brilliant! I have a bunch of old cassette tapes of my fave bands, but i never listen to them because they're so obsolete. I could totally create some awesome notebooks with that. Cheers! :]

This is a fab recycling idea!
I was going to do it with a cassette case but i couldnt find any around our house,but by coinsodence i had a small mini pack of cereal that morning so i just used that instead,the only difference was that the book had lots of pages as the box was quick wide.Still worked just as well though :]
