  • How to brew a cappuccino. Cappuccino! (At Home Using Stuff You Already Own) - Step 1
    Step 1

For each cup of coffee, place a heaped tablespoon of coarse ground coffee into your French Press. I got mine from the op shop for $2.

Boil up a small amount of water and measure about 100ml into the French Press.

Let brew for about 3-5 minutes.
Press down on the little knob, then pour into your cup.

    WASH FRENCH PRESS VERY THOROUGHLY.
    Use the excess boiled water.

    IMPORTANT:
-NEVER pour boiling water straight onto your coffee. This will cause it to burn, and it will taste bitter. Instead, let the water sit from 15-30 seconds to cool to about 95 degrees Celcius before pouring.

-Letting the coffee brew for more than 5 minutes will make the coffee bitter.

    Step 2

Heat your milk in the microwave or on the stove until hot, but not boiling.

Pour into your clean French Press, but do not fill more than half way.

    Step 3

Pulse handle quickly up and down until frothy. Froth should reach the top of the French Press.

Remove the lid. Tap the French Press on the bench and swirl the milk around. Baristas use this technique to remove large bubbles and make the milk smoth like velvet.

    Step 4

After stirring in optional sugar, quickly pour milk into the coffee.

The quicker you pour, the more froth you will get into your drink.
