Sew buttons on first

Embroider around them trying out different stitches, e.g. lazy daisy. Include different beads for interest

Not sure how to finish the back so if anyone can advise I'd really appreciate it!

One way that looks nice for the back is to take a bit of fabric of your choice, trim it so that it fits the hoop, add a bit of stuffing and then sew the fabric over the excess from the original. Hope this helps
