A mysterious Book of Secrets full of intrigue.
The book of Secrets. Write a mysterious book with secrets hidden withing the pages themselves. A great gift idea or keepsake for a special person.
(You don't have to be a pagan to do this, we all have something to share.)
I chose a blank journal made with homemade paper that had actual rose petals embedded in the pages. I will be giving this to my niece when I get it finished.

Step 1Glue interesting items on the outside and punch a hole in the edge of the front cover and lace a ribbon through it. Use wire or ribbon to firmly place a button or appropriate ornament on the back edge to wrap the securing ribbon around.

Step 2Glue pages together along bottom and outer edges to form "Secret Pockets" out of the pages themselves, add small envelopes and other interesting elements onto the outside of the pocket pages. You can put small notes or objects in the smaller envelopes as little surprises.

Step 3Write leading and mysterious things on the pages with illustrations, leave the passages incomplete and write the rest on a separate piece of paper and tuck into a random pocket elsewhere in the book.

Step 4This may take some time to fill, so give yourself plenty of time before your gifting time.

You can add little things like drawings made with layers of plastic sheets with added elements on them to lay over the first drawing. You will have to hand sew the plastic sheets on because plastic does not glue well to paper.

If you wish you can use an exacto knife to cut out spaces in the pages to put bulkier items in. (Careful with sharp stuff, if you are under 16 you could ask a parent to do it.)

Step 7Add a chain or ribbon bookmark to the spine of the book so your recipient can save their place. Add regular scrapbooking items like small metal frames and stuff to decorate.

Step 8All done! A mysterious Book of Secrets to pass on!
