R5: sc, sc, sc, inc all around, sl st to join , chain 1
R6: sc, sc, sc, sc, inc all around, sl st to join , chain 1
R7: sc, sc, sc, sc, sc, inc all around, sl st to join , chain 1
*Note: here is where you continue to get the diameter of set person's head*
R8-to the length you want: sc around, sl st to join , chain 1
When reached desire length, fasten off and sew in thread with needle -

Ears
R1: magic ring 6 sc, sl st to join , chain 1
R2: inc all around, sl st to join , chain 1
R3-4 sc around, fasten off
Sew to the top of the hat, you can position where ever you want.
You can even put them far to the sides to make a monkey.
