About
old t-shirt dress coverup easy no sew cute
I was really bored, and I remembered my sister was throwing away a bunch of shirts in a bag. So I grabbed two, the main one being interesting and simple, and the second one a darker color. Either way it comes out really cute :) You can alter it a bit to cover your boobs better for those who are busty. And those who have larger rumps like me, this dress actually hugs and covers it :D! Yay stretchy shirts :D!
I'M SORRY FOR THE SUCKY IMAGES! I DID'T TAKE PHOTOS OF THE CONSTRUCTION.

You Will Need
-
Step 1
First pick two t-shirts.
1. That will be your base shirt. (This one fit me normally, so you wont need to go out to get an extra size bigger :P) I recommend it to be simple and the image to be in the upper part of the shirt.2. An opposite shading of color shirt. As an artist I know you want to make the base color 'POP' with the accesories. So if you do black, go with colors that will help it. If you do yellow go with blue as a helper :) Make it work.
-
Step 8
Now grap your iron, ironing board, stitch witchery. Now this stuff is a dream and can be found at Wal-mart, JoAnns, or even Hobby Lobby. Stitch Witchery is like a fabric glue that you iron.
REMEMBER: When ironing with stitch witchery, do not let your iron touch the S.W(Stitch Witchery). It will ruin your iron and stink :(.When using S.W. Put the the S.W. between the two fabrics you want to use. and make sure none of the stuff is poking out. You might really let the iron heat up the fabric to make sure the S.W. melts.
-
Step 9
DON'T CUT!
Now grab your two long strips and place one end slightly on top of the others end. And set the S.W. between them. I recommend putting two strips of the S.W. between them to make sure their bond is strong.
Like the positioning on the image. When you finish that easy step, you have one big long strip.
-
Step 11
Now you have a choice. Sewing? Or Stitch Witchery? I don't normally sew in a straight line so I choose Stitch Witchery.
Now you can choose whether to free hand or use the old need and thread trick. I choose the trick.
Now I strung the needle. Don't let thread disconnect from the spool. Weave the needle through the top portion(with a little space from the top) of the long blue strip. You don't have to be exact about it.
Once you've weaved all the way through. Let the ruffle creation evenly stretch out to be the same length as the circumference of the end of the shirt.
(If you don't want to use the trick, you can hand set were you want everything.)
So you'll have something like this. -
Step 12
Now sense I chose S.W. its going to take longer than sewing. Considering the wrinkles of the ruffles are thick.
I recommend putting down three strips of S.W..
Now the MAIN shirt of the ironing board should have the S.W on the very end. Lay one end of the ruffle contraption down were the thread is weaved through.
Iron it and let it heat up so the S.W. will melt. It might take some time. Be patient. Check to see if the fabric glued, if not, keep heating.
Rotate the MAIN shirt until the ruffle is all around the shirt.
It's best to have the ruffles length to be to much rather than not enough ;D!
Now you should have a flirty skirty bottom to your beach top so far.
HARDEST PART IS OVER!
NOW it should like a cute apron.
-
Step 15
Now cut out one long strip from the bottom of the second shirt again like you did the first time. However, this time you only cut out one loop.
Find the mid point and cut the strip in half.
Now the MAIN shirt flip over to it's belly.
The MAIN shirt should be layed out flat.
Now add each blue end the side of the back part. Using S.W. or sewing.
I chose S.W. -
Step 16
Now that strip from the very bottom of the shirt that I asked you to cut off and put to the side earlier? In step 5?
Attach the middle portion of that strip to the neck line of the MAIN t-shirt.
Using sewing or S.W. :)
(If you didn't save it just cut off another loop from your second t-shirt :) )
-
Step 17
Now try it on, and tie the neck up and the back together :) Your done!
i can never do that on paint
greatt tut!
It's awesome, I have to try it!
Thanks for the how-to
