Don't even get me started on gifts for parents! I've bought or made stuff for everyone else but I'm stuck on what to do for them.

Fingers crossed we can both find some inspiration soon Happy

At the moment I've had a really wierd mix of songs stuck in my head: Karma by Lady Wray, Dust in the Wind by Kansas, Unbelievable by EMF, and In Waves by Trivium.

Hi guys, I'm Jackie from Australia. I've been a member of Cut Out + Keep for a few years now but since enrolling in university, I have been more of a browser than a poster. I love to craft, cook and do makeup. Most of all, I love seeing the amazing creations you guys put up on here every day

Same thing's been happening to me, I wonder what's going on. I've tried for 3 days in a row and still no luck.

It was recommended to me that I use normal acrylic paints but mix in some textile medium and use a heat gun to seal them at the end (the lovely lady at the art shop said an iron would do just as well if you don't have one) and that makes them totally waterproof and apparently stops the paint from cracking and fading with wear. I would have tried it by now but the individual that I was doing the shoes for hasn't given me them yet so I can't personally attest to how well this method works.

You could turn it into a decorative CD holder thing (add the neck as a frame then a stand at the back, then add metal/wooden/plasic notches all the way up).

You could make it a sort of wall decoration that is useful - like putting small nails as pegs to hang things, or using the spaces to balance ornaments on (like tiny shelves).

You could stain and lacquer it to use on a coffee table instead of coasters? Or as a decorative centrepiece or a serving tray of some kind if you filled the spaces with that glassy-looking stuff (forgot the name).

You could use it as an arty wall decoration and do some sort of design on it, like a take on Aboriginal art, or one of those puff-paint things to make a 3D design, butterflies, landscapes, really anything that catches your fancy.

I'm all out of stupid ideas...

That radio idea is amazing Simply Shauna!

Well, according to Wikipedia: China, Finland, Estonia, France, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Latin America, the Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Scandinavia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, America, Britain, Australia, Ireland, and many more celebrate Valentines Day or some other variation with the same ideas.

I'm not sure where it came from, I've heard a lot of different stories, all including St Valentine, some saying it started to commemorate a number of saints' martyrdom, others saying St Valentine encouraging love, etc.

As with many holidays, the original reasons are forgotten or replaced due to targeted marketing to sell something - e.g. Most people I know celebrate Easter, regardless of their religious beliefs because Easter isn't known for how it began anymore, it's seen as a time to get chocolate eggs.

It would be cool to know where Valentines Day started, and if it is held on its original day, or if it's day was changed to coincide with other events (like what happened to Christmas).

I'm so glad you finally received the package! I went to the post office yesterday and they told me that their last record of it was on the 19th of December and that it was processed and still awaiting transport to South Africa so this has basically taught me that Australia Post has no clue what is going on.

    Have you received it yet?

Rawr.Rawr.x, if tracking was available for the package I sent you, i would have gave you the number and website, but sadly only the UK, USA and New Zealand have tracking options with the 3-7 day post (they have a special bag with the flag on it and its $17 more). Before, you could purchase tracking for $6 on top of the postage costs but now they stopped that.

It should be there by now as I resent it on the 18th. The receipt says that South Africa is Zone 7 so idk if that affects the travel time but the lady at the post office said it may get there earlier due to the extra flights at Christmas time which clearly did not occur...

I can put a teaser if you want while you wait?
