Anyone else tired of how much craft storage/organizers are?!
Last week I was at Michael's and noticed their ribbon organizer was on sale for 40 or 50% off, well payday was this week and of course, they were no longer on sale. I did not want to pay $25 for something to hold ribbon so wandering around I came up with an idea for one of my own and cost me under $5!

  • Step 1

You want to cut your wooden dowel. My display board's middle panel measured 12 in so I cut the dowel twice, with each measuring 14 in (there will be some leftover).

**You can buy addition dowels and add more rows to your organizer :)

  • Step 2

Using the wood glue, glue one wood bead to one side of each dowel. NOTE: DO NOT GLUE BEADS TO EACH END OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REFILL YOUR RIBBON

  • Step 3

Use a craft knife to make holes for the dowels. I only have two rows so I made my holes 6" from the top and bottom of each side panel.

  • Step 4

    ***OPTIONAL***

You may choose to decorate your organizer to match your style. Use whatever you have and use your imagination! For now, mine is going to remain boring.

  • Step 5

Insert dowels from the outside of the left panel and then add your ribbon spools. After all your ribbon is on, put the dowel through the other end and place the other bead on. I had meant to buy the wood balls with a single hold but accidentally bought the beads. You can't glue the other end, and so far I haven't had a problem with them falling off.

  • Step 6

You're finished! I put my organizer on the wall with those heavy duty mounting squares, but you can choose to display it on your desk, shelf, etc; because it does stand up. I mounted mine because my son is into everything!

I think I really need to do this once I can get my craftroom.. I think it will remain fairly bland too only because the ribbons will be the main focus! Happy
