Step 1Whisk together the self-raising flour and baking soda.

Step 2Cream together the butter and the sugar.

Step 3Beat the eggs in, one at a time.

Step 4Mix in half of the flour and half of the mashed banana.

Step 5Mix in the remaining flour and banana.

Step 6Add the chunks of dark chocolate and walnut halves, reserving a handful to decorate when baked.

Step 7Mix in evenly.

Step 8Scoop the batter into a greased loaf tin.

Step 9Bake at 180'C for 35 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.

Step 10Leave to cool a little before turning out of the tin.

Step 11Mix together the icing sugar and water to make a runny icing.

Step 12Drizzle over the banana bread and top with the remaining walnut halves.
