Step 1Pour the water over the dates.
Let sit for 1 hr.

Step 2Cream the butter & sugar together.

Step 3Heat oven 175/350 degrees.
Add eggs to butter, one at a time. Beat to combine.

Step 4Add the flour, baking powder & soda.
Mix to combine.

Step 5Add the dates & vanilla to the mixture.
Combine.

Step 6Pour into tin.
Cook for approx 50 mins until cooked fully.

Step 7To make the sauce...
Combine all ingredients in a pot.

Step 8Heat through until all ingredients are combined & the sauce is thickened.

Step 9Cut cake & pour the sauce over.
Best served with ice cream.
