Get ready for spring with this easy, breezy layering piece.
Turn any long sleeve blouse into a feminine, chic layering piece that's perfect for spring. This project is easy to create with either silky or cotton blouses. I've included two variations at the end.

    Step 1

If your blouse is silky, this is the easiest way to neatly remove the sleeves. (If it's cotton, cut off the sleeve, roll the edge under twice, and stitch in place.)

Pull the sleeve through to the inside and pin.

Stitch around the armhole, about an 1/8" from the edge.

Cut sleeve off from the inside. Leave yourself enough fabric to edge stitch or fray check.

    Step 5

From the removed sleeves, cut out strips to make into the neck tie. Make the strips twice as wide as the finished tie (+ 1/2" for seam allowance). I wanted my tie to fit neatly under the collar, so my strips were 2.5" wide to make a 1" finished tie. Each tie will be made from two strips, one long and one short.
