Sorry I don't have any progress pictures, it moves really fast. Mine are mint with green color, I don't have molds so they're rather odd shaped.

  • Step 1

    You will need
    # 2 cups sugar
    # 1/3 cup corn syrup
    # 3/4 cup water
    # 1 teaspoon flavor
    # Food coloring
    ------
    # A small saucepan
    # Sucker sticks
    # Foil-lined pans or candy molds
    # Candy thermometer

  • Step 2

Combine all of the ingredients in a clean, dry small saucepan fitted with a candy thermometer and bring to a boil over high heat. Without stirring, cook until the mixture reaches 305 degrees or "hard crack" stage on the candy thermometer.

While waiting for you mixture to heat up prepare for pouring. If you have molds line up the sticks in them. If you don't line a pan or two with foil and lay the sticks on it a few inches apart.

  • Step 4

Half-fill a larger bowl with ice water. When the mixture is done, remove the pot from the heat and dip it into the ice bath for 15 seconds to stop the cooking. It will steam a lot.

  • Step 5

Add your flavor and color after cooling, being careful not to over stir. Some good flavors are Coffee (1 teaspoon coffee extract or 1 teaspoon instant coffee mixed with hot water, or any flavor oil. Its fun to mix and match colors and flavors and colors, like rootbeer and green.

  • Step 6

If you have molds pour the mixture slowly into them. If you don't slowly pour the mixture onto the sticks, making sure to twist the sticks to cover them completely with the mixture. If you don't have sticks just pour into small rounds and call them hard candys.

  • Step 7

Then just cool and eat. Cool them for at least 20 minutes. Remove from molds or from foil. Store in an airtight container, baggies are good place.
