Simple stockinette shawlette with little detail at the hem. Worsted weight and size 11 needles help this work up quickly.

  • Step 1

    Yarn: 310yds worsted weight yarn (Sample was knit with Woolfolk Far.)
    Needles: sz US 11 24"+ circular
    Gauge: 14 sts and 22 rows = 4"

  • Step 2

    Notes:

    MD = mitered decrease (slip 2 sts as if to k2tog, k1, pass 2 slipped stitches over)

  • Step 3

    CO 3 via long tail cast on.

    Row 1: k1, p1, k1 (3 sts total)
    Row 2: *k1, yo*; rpt from * to * to last st, k1 (5 sts total)
    Row 3: k1, p to last st, k1
    Row 4: rpt row 2 (9 sts)
    Row 5: k1, p to last st, k1
    Row 6: (k1, yo) twice, k2, yo, pm, k1, yo, k2, (yo, k1) twice (15 sts total)
    Row 7: k1, p to last st, k1
    Row 8: (k1, yo) twice, k to m, yo, sm, k1, yo, k to last 2 sts, (yo, k1) twice (21 sts total)

    Repeat rows 7 + 8 until you have 201 sts.
    Then repeat row 7 once more.

  • Step 4

    Detail at Hem:
    (Switch to a different color if desired.)
    Row 1: k3, *k1, yo, k4, MD, k4, yo*; rpt from * to * to m, sl m, k1, rpt from * to * to last 3 sts, k4
    Row 2: K1, p to last st, k1

    Repeat these two rows four times (8 rows total.)

    Bind off loosely, knit wise.
