  • How to make a candle. Pumpkin Candles - Step 1
    Step 1

Boil some water in a kettle and then break up some old candles in to a small measuring jug. The smaller you break them up the faster they will melt. I whizzed mine round in a bean grinder for a few seconds.

  • How to make a candle. Pumpkin Candles - Step 2
    Step 2

Fill a larger measuring jug half way full with the boiling water and place the smaller jug with the wax in to the larger one and leave until the wax melts down and turns in to liquid. If you have a double boiler you can use that instead and it will work much faster.

    Step 3

Prepare your molds by placing a length of wick across it.

    Step 4

Fill the mold with the wax and leave to set.

Liquid dye won't work as water and wax do not mix. But they do sell small blocks of wax dye. That should work I think. They even sell fragrance too.

I USED to think I was creative. Then I stumbled upon this website. YOU ARE THE MOST AMAZINGLY CREATIVE PERSON...EVER!!!!!!! Would it work to add dye to change the color of the candle? Or would not work well with the wax?

You can get candle dye which is specific to wax, but you can also use old wax crayons to dye candles too.

I got the molds from Tesco, which is a supermarket in the UK. They were suppose to be ice cube molds.
