  • How to make a capelet. Cabled Cape - Step 1
    Step 1

    CAPE UPPER PART
    It’s crocheted in the round, in closed rounds, starting from the neck.
    Ch 72, sl st in the first ch to close in the round (take care not to twist the foundation ch).
    Rnd 1: Ch 3, dc 71= 72 sts. The first 3 ch of every round replace the first dc. To close this and every following round sl st in the 3rd beginning ch.
    Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc 4, 2 dc in next st, (dc 5, 2 dc in next st) rep ( ) 11 times= 84 sts.
    Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc 83= 84 sts
    Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc 5, 2 dc in next st, (dc 6, 2 dc in next st) rep ( ) 11 times= 96 sts.
    Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc 95= 96 sts
    Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc 6, 2 dc in next st, (dc 7, 2 dc in next st) rep ( ) 11 times= 108 sts.
    Rnd 7-13: Ch 3, dc 107= 108 sts
    Fasten off.

    Step 3

    CABLE BAND
    Crocheted back and forth starting from one end. Ch 21.
    R1: Starting in 5th ch from the hook dc 17= 18 sts.
    R2: Ch 3, dc 17, turn= 18 sts.
    R3 (RS, cable/crossing row): Ch 3, 1 FPdc, dc 3, skip 4 sts, make 1 FPdc into each of the next 4 sts, go back to the skipped sts and make 1 FPdc into each of the 4 sts, dc 3, 1 FPdc, dc 1, turn= 18 sts.
    R4: Ch 3, 1 BPdc, dc 3, make 1 BPdc into each of the next 8 sts, dc 3, 1 BPdc, dc 1, turn= 18 sts.
    R5: Ch 3, 1 FPdc, dc 3, make 1 FPdc into each of the next 8 sts, dc 3, 1 FPdc, dc 1, turn= 18 sts.
    R6-9: Rep R4-5 twice.
    R10: Rep R4 once more.
    Repeat R3-10 continuously until completing 40.1″/102 cm.
    Make 2 last rows of 18 dc without FP or BPdc or any crossing.
    Fasten off leaving a long strand for sewing.

    Step 4

    FINISHING
    Sew the ends of the cable band.
    Take the upper part of the cape and align the beginning of rounds with the band seam.
    Sew the band with the upper part of the cape (pin before making the final seam).
    Fasten off and weave in all ends.
    The cape is finished.
