• 

  Step 1

  Cut out one square measuring 54 x 54cm, and a pair measuring 54 x 36cm (these have 1cm seam allowance included).

• 

  Step 2

  1. Select the silhouette you want to work with.

  2. Place under a piece of Vliesofix* and trace onto the paper side.

• 

  Step 4

  3. Choose a contrast fabric for your image. Place the rough side of the Vliesofix onto the wrong side of the fabric, iron for 30 seconds with dry heat. Allow to cool, then cut out your shape.

• Step 5

  4. Peel the paper off the shape, place onto the right side of the front cushion square (the larger square), iron for 30 seconds with dry heat.

  Step 6

  5. Decide how you want to stitch your design; zigzag, machine embroidery or hand stitching all work well; applique the silhouette design.

• Step 7

  6. Hem the back sections: turn the seam allowance over 3cm to make a double hem.

• 

  Step 8

  7. Place the back and front right sides together and sew around the square.

• 

  Step 9

  8. Turn through. Press. Congratulations! Your cushion is ready for an insert! Share on social media using the tags
