• 

  Step 1

  purchase that is already at the measurements required, or draw down.

• 

  Step 2

  File one end flat.

• 

  Step 3

  Measure and mark where you would like a groove to be places. The groove helps the scroll coming off the post when it is being worn.

• 

  Step 4

  File the groove into the wire, rotating the wire as you do so to ensure it is even around the whole circumference.

• 

  Step 5

  Measure and mark the wire to the legnth required for the earring post.

• 

  Step 6

  If using snips cut the wire a fraction longer ar the snips will create a pinched end. If using a saw the end will be flat.

• 

  Step 7

  If you have used snips file the end of the wire flat.

• 

  Step 8

  Sand and clean up the wire, rounding the end so it is smooth when being put into the pearced ear hole.

• 

  Step 9

  Here is a picure taken through my eye glass.

  With the thicker wire file the end flat.

• 

  Step 11

  Then measure and cut with a piercing saw to the required legnth.

• 

  Step 12

  Place the earring post in a pair of reversere tweezers.

• 

  Step 13

  Put solder paste on the end... normally hate this, but its really good for this sort of soldering.

• 

  Step 14

  Set the tweezers and the disc on the solder brick so you don't have to hold it... it is really hard to place in the centre of the disc otherwise... if you still find it hard to centre then centre punch the disc so you have a dip to line the post to

  Step 15

  Warm up the disc and the post to the same tempurature until solder melts

• 

  Step 16

  Let cool a little then quench them in water

• 

  Step 17

  Place the post in pickle until it has gone white and all of the flux etc has gone.

• 

  Step 18

  Remove from pickle and rinse well in water.

• 

  Step 19

  Lastly sand the disc flat and clean up.
