Dragon Cape advice

Ok, I have agreed to make a dragon cape for my 3 year old neice - apparantly it has to be purple with pink spikes!
I've got an amazing purple lycra swimsuit/leotard material and pink felt for the spikes - but before I start I was wondering if anyone has advice on sewing stretchy, slippery fabric?
Save me before I mess it up!

The stretchiness of the swimwear material may pose an issue with the non-stretching felt when you try to sew them together.

To sew on lycra, you should use a zig-zag stitch to allow it to stretch. It's also a good idea to use polyester thread with it as well as it will stretch more than cotton thread will. Pinning your seams in place before sewing will also help a lot.

I've run out of time to put this off any longer - it is now under construction and will post when it's done!
