Making badges

I was wondering if anyone could help me..
I want to make my own badges for myself and friends, sadly I am on a limited budget and have no idea where to start.
Was just wondering if anyone had any advice or hints on where to get the stuff I'll need.
The only badge makers I've been able to find are either expensive or for kids.
All help is appreciated.

i would start by finding any scrap fabric thats laying around the house and mount it on cardstock or thick paper. be creative! use random stuff you find around the house like buttons, old pieces of jewelery you can take apart, beads, etc. or you can buy felt (very cheap) at your local craft store. you can decorate them with colorful thread and stuff. hope this helped!

Hi Momo, If you want a round metal base you can save the ends from tubes of biscuit or crescent roll dough. Those are kind of small so if you want larger metal bases you could try the bottom of a cleanser or pringles (potato chip) can. Those are cardboard too. The reason I suggest these is that the edges have a safety lip and you wouldn't get cut on them. Another thing you can do to get different sizes if needed would be to use a safety can opener but then you are getting into some money there if you don't own one. Anyway these would be a good base or foundation to start with. Then all you would need to do is paint or decorate them and add a bar pin to the back. These come with or without a sticky foam backing or you can use a good jewelry glue like E6000. Good Luck!
