online shops?

Just looking at maybe trying to sell some of the things i've made online. Never done it before and was looing for help/opinions on different sites. Im in the uk, so maybe ones like etsy, folksy, missy etc. Also if anyone has accounts with more than one, which seems to sell more things?
Thank you!!

I've just set up an account on folksy http://www.folksy.com/shops/JewellerybyLizzieG
i've had it for a month and no one has even looked at it!

but anyway, it was very easy to set up, especially if you already have paypal. please look at my shop as well and tell me what you think, I want to know why nothing is selling :/
hope that helps a little? Happy

i've just looked at yours...love the banana tart ring! very cute!

See this is what i was thinking before, some might be less well known sites so attract less people? These were the things i wanted to know before setting up an account. Didn't want to sell on ebay as the fees are quite high etc.

Thankyou! Happy
on ebay, i've seen really amazing cute jewellery really cheap and no one is buying it...
on folksy it costs 20p to list 1 item or 20p for up to 5 of the same item, but then they take a percentage off the final price when you sell it too... to be honest, I think loads of people use the site to sell stuff, but not many people use it JUST to buy things... :/ its really annoying!

I've had my stuff on a few different sites but I think etsy is the best! They have cool extra stuff, like coupons, promoting, alchemy, and custom orders. Mine is www.blossomingdesigns.etsy.com
Good luck

You can now link your Folksy account to your Facebook fanpage, which is a great way to advertise I think, especially if you have lots of fb friends Happy

http://www.folksy.com/shops/WolfsCraft is mine!

I'm looking to start up an etsy shop too and blog, I think etsy is the biggest and I hear from friends it sells better too. Other ones I'll be looking at are craftnation.com, all things original, misi.co.uk and not on the high street.com. Any advice on branding? Also I do lots of different things - is it important to have a coherent range of products which are similar do you think? I mostly do amigurumi crochet creatures, with a bit of embroidery too....

Etsy has the most unique viewers per month than any other arts & crafts selling site. It costs 20 cents per item/quantity, but the commission rate is fairly low at 3.5%.

The biggest disadvantage to setting up shop online is that you have to advertise it yourself. No one is going to know about it if you don't put it out there like using fliers, business cards even word of mouth from friends and relatives. Even if you choose etsy, it still doesn't guarantee viewers or buyers for that matter. It takes a lot of work to get people to even see your stuff, so personally I don't think it has that much to do with which site you choose. You just have to promote it. Good luck though if you do decide to set one up.
