Not sure about names (mine, panda314, comes from my nickname and a pun on my cousin's last family name and a mistake she made when we were little), but as for designs, I'd say look around blogs you like and see how they look and how it relates to the content. For example from myself and some well known craft bloggers, http://puffylittlethings.blogspot.co.nz is based off cute crafts, so she has a lot of pink and simple lace and rounded edges. http://craftcandies.wordpress.com/ also uses a lot of rounded edges, and the layout draw away from her actual content. http://helloashleyann.com/ ,or paperpastels, uses a very simple grey layout accented by pink (and so on). Mine, however, http://panda314.tumblr.com/ , isn't a very good layout, but since it's mostly only photos, it's...usable
