• 

  Step 1

  Assemble your beads. I chose to use pink beads to match the shawl, but you can use whatever you like.

  Step 2

  Take a length of wire and thread on a crimp bead, a seed bead, a round bead and another seed bead. Thread the wire through the round bead, seed bead and crimp bead again. Pull tight and squeeze the crimp.

• 

  Step 3

  A little further down, thread the same combination of beads and crimp, continue down the wire. You'll need about 13 of them. I used 2 smaller wires as I find long lengths of wire tricky to handle.

  Step 4

  Between the beads, bend the excess wire down and give a little squeeze with the pliers.

• 

  Step 5

  Roll the first set of beads up, with the bent tails at the bottom.

• 

  Step 6

  Wrap the second set of beads around it, twisting the end of the wire tightly around the "stub" at the bottom.

• 

  Step 7

  On a new piece of wire, thread on a crimp bead, a seed bead, an oval bead and another seed bead. Take the wire back down the beads, ignoring the seed bead at the fold of the wire. Crimp.

  Step 8

  Add a second set of beads in the same way.

• 

  Step 9

  Continue adding until you have 6. The first two should be close gogether, but then have a gap between the others.

• 

  Step 10

  wrap the starting end of the wire tightly around the stub, position the petals. wrap the wire round, tugging the petals into place. I left a gap between the petals so I could wrap the wire round once before placing the petal, then wrap again. This photo is taken from the back of the brooch.

  Step 11

  Use the end of the wire to firmly attach a brooch back and you're done.

I like the brooch that you made; I'd like to make something similar, but I have a couple of questions. Do you know what gauge wire you used? Also, I can't quite tell what kind/size "oval beads"? And the same question, the size of the round glass or crystal beads? Just going by the photos, I cannot figure out the scale of the brooch, i.e., how big it is "in person".
Of course, the directions are very good and I think I could make one in whatever size beads I happen to have, but I am very curious about this one! I do like the project a lot but, I'm not on this site very much so I was disappointed that not all the beads are listed in the "You Will Need" box at the top left of the tutorial. The project budget is listed as "cheap", but the type of beads that are not listed could make this an expensive brooch! While I'm planning to make something similar as a pendant or something and not a brooch, I also wondered what kind of pin back you used.
I feel like I'm cross-examining you. LOL But please take it as a compliment that I am so interested! Thanks for any help!
