We head to Sheffield to meet #FeaturedMember Hester who loves cooking from scratch!
Featured Member Interview
How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
When I joined CO+K over 5 years ago, I was looking for a site that had sewing tutorials. Just on google, literally typing in 'sewing tutorials' and it came up and I immeadiately loved it! As a keen seamstress I wanted to learn some tricks and new skills to improve my sewing skills.
What projects are you currently working on?
Unfortunately, I think I have about 20 projects in the works at the moment. I just don't seem to have the time to dedicate to any of them. I seem to have the terrible crafting habit of trying to start a new craft which will take 5 hours to make in the space of 1, not very smart really. The most recent project is a dungaress made from old jeans...

What does your craft space look like?
I love my kitchen and I'm not ashamed to boast about it! It is amazing! I have 3 ovens and 5 hobs which is great for making feasts. I have a standing fridge and a standing freezer which is perfect for making big batches and freezing things. As well as plenty of surfaces to use for prep, I have a big shelving unit with all my recipe books and baking equipment. Can you tell I love it?
We are currently doing up some of the spaces in our house, one of which is our 'top room' which is an attic bedroom with a desk space, many musical instruments, sound system and all my fabrics, sewing machines, dressmaking mannequin and crafting stuff. It's a mess at the moment, but hopefully when we are finished I will have the perfect crafting space.
Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?
This is a really difficult question. A simple answer is probably scissors, I use scissors for everything, including cooking. However, a craft tool I couldn't live without would have to be my Brother sewing machine! As much as I don't mind, and sometimes even enjoy, hand sewing, my sewing machine makes everything so easy and almost effortless.
What do you craft along to?
Shamefully I usually craft to terrible TV shows. My guilty pleasure is the Real Housewives franchise; you don't need to concentrate on it and it is full of brain melting rubbish. Otherwise, I love project runway and all the fashion designers!

Favorite Craft
I guess the craft I love the most is the one I do the most, which is cooking. I cook from scratch nearly everyday and I love it! I also love to bake, and I love a challenge; being a vegan who makes cakes for others with all kinds of allergies and requirements is always interesting. After cooking sewing is my second crafting love and if I didn't have to work in the real world I would dedicate half my time just to sewing. If only! I tend to make clothes for myself or bags, cushions, cat toys and presents for friends and family.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?
I really wish I could get past basic knit level!! I struggle so much with knitting, I can do a basic knit stitch and basic purl and that's it. My hands can't seem to learn anything else! I would also love a knitting machine, after attending a crafting session I feel in love with is and all the cool things you can make with one!
Who are your crafting heroes?
I guess my crafting hero is my Nan (my great-grandmother), she taught my to sew and bake my first fruit cake. She was the most patient woman and I absolutely adored her, especially when we would be creative together! I always got to make the yule log at Christmas (:
