Featured Member Interview
How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
In late 2008, I was new to the world of crafting and I was stumbling “crafts” on Stumble-Upon when I discovered CO+K. I loved looking at all the projects on the site and thought that the community looked very welcoming, so I joined.
What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, I’m working on lots of different projects for craft swaps on swap-bot.com. One of the swaps is a Pinterest inspired swap where my partner and I are to craft 3 items each, which are inspired by our pins.

What does your craft space look like?
My craft space is currently a disaster! When I had a place of my own, I had a craft room. Since I had to move back home, I’m limited to crafting in my bedroom, which is tiny. My bed is generally covered in fabric and unfinished projects. Here’s my workspace before too much chaos ensues.
Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?
I use a ton of felt, thread, and hand sewing needles. Scissors are always a must. If I have those items on hand, I’m a happy gal.
What do you craft along to?
I cannot craft while listening to music. It’s just too distracting. Singing gets in the way of crafting. I must have noise while I craft though, so I keep the television on for background noise. It’s usually tuned to Cartoon Network. My favorite shows to craft to are “King of the Hill” and “American Dad!”.

Favorite Craft
My favorite craft is sewing plushies by hand. I’m technically challenged, so I’ve never learned to use a sewing machine. I find hand sewing to be very relaxing and fulfilling. I love being able to take a flat piece of fabric and to make it into something dimensional. I also enjoy making rag dolls, felt brooches, felt keychains, and doing hand embroidery.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn how to use a sewing machine, crochet, and knit. I’d love to make my own clothing, amigurumi, and there’s a tree stump ottoman I’d like to knit for myself.
Who are your crafting heroes?
My primary crafting heroes are the women whom I’ve met on CO+K. I’ve made some of the closest friendships on this site and I stay in contact with my crafty ladies nearly every day. They support my efforts and inspire me to try new things. Fellow plushie artist, Michelle Coffee, is another hero of mine. She has a style that is all her own and it shines through in every piece she creates. She’s not only an amazing artist she’s an awesome person as well.
