When did you first start getting crafty and creative with fashion?
About four years ago, I started taking things home from thrift stores and changing them using a sewing machine I received as a college graduation present. From there, it evolved into sewing old patterns, and then designing my own patterns and clothing.
Who are your favorite fashionistas and designers?
There are many designers I love including Dusen Dusen, Apiece Apart, Ilana Kohn, Anntian, Penny Sage, Elizabeth Suzann, Jesse Kamm, Samuji, Hackwith Design House, and Osei Duro. Lots and lots. Also jewelry designers Young Frankk, Erin Considine, Gamma Folk, Academy, and Laura Lombardi.
What are your ultimate style tips?
Be yourself! Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident. In school I used to think the way someone dresses was arbitrary, but now I realize it's not. It's an extension of yourself, it's self expression. It isn't everything, but it certainly matters.
If you could borrow one thing from a celebrities wardrobe, what & who would you choose?
It'd probably be something long and oversized that Meryl Streep wore in the 1970s.
Which fashion blogs do you love to read?
Liebemarlene, Miss Moss
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I started a wheel throwing pottery class a couple of months ago, which is relaxing and really fun. In my free time, I've been learning how to code and make video games through a platform called Game Maker. I am also in a writing group and love to write when I can.
