How would you describe your style and who are your style icons?
Currently it’s Claire Boucher (Grimes). I'm just mesmerised by her out of this world talent and style. I have always loved Chloë Sevigny’s style too, particularly the mid to late 1990s era, back when she was dating Harmony Korine – my favourite director. She’s just so handsomely cool and effortless. I don’t really follow any kind of style – as I feel today we are encouraged to adopt our own individualities. I think I would describe my look as comfortable, handsome grunge.
What's in your everyday make-up bag?
I have a little tin of Vaseline, a concealer and an eye lash curler. I may top this up with mascara and a cream blush if I need to go somewhere that requires making a bit more of an effort! I don’t really tend to wear mascara during the day time much as my lashes are naturally long and dark – so mascara can make them feel really heavy sometimes. Also an incident involving my clumsy 4 year old self, gravity and a brick wall has left me with a little random scar on my brow area so I make sure I am equipped with an eyebrow gel and pencil to fill in that ugly brow bald patch.
What is your beauty routine like?
My current beauty routine is quite minimal. When I was younger I was drawn to lots of fancy skin products but I feel now, as I'm in my late 20s, less has been more beneficial. I remove my make up with the camomile oil cleanser from Body Shop, or some coconut oil. I also gave myself a face and foot massage to stimulate blood flow. I also make sure I drink lots of water or green tea.
If you could makeover a celebrity, who would it be and what look would you give them?
Marilyn Manson apparently does all his own make up. So I would give him a make over and deliberately do a shoddy job of it.... So then he'll say "No no no, this is how you do it...". And then he'll give me all his make up tips and tricks. Plus he's just so chilled and funny - if you ever see him being interviewed - he's the kind of guy you'll want to a glass of wine or a beer with. I think I would also love to give Volandi Visser a make over too... I mean, why not?
Any tips for someone wanting to mix up their look?
Add a subtle touch of a bright colour right at the outer corner of your eye socket contour: - blue if you have brown eyes, green if you have blue eyes and red/purple if you have green eyes. It acts as a little flash/spark of a contrast colour that just gives a subtle enhancement boost to your eye colour. Also, a little tip if you want to naturally enhance your lips – I take a dark lipstick and lightly dab it on the centre of my lips and rub it in with my finger. I think this is the best way to give a natural enhancement to your lips. I feel pink and nude lipsticks can sometimes make the lips look too drawn out.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love art... And though I'm not an artist I do try to practise my art as much as I can. I also love skiing. I also try to play my saxophone when I get the chance. I love reading too.
