When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I first got into cooking when I returned from a French Exchange program in New Brunswick when I was 16. For as long as I can remember, I was always experimenting with making recipes healthier.
I can't remember for the life of me what the first recipe was that I tried making! For some reason, apple cinnamon muffins ring a bell in my mind!
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is not huge, but it gets the job done! I like to stay organized by putting away the ingredients or food items as soon as I'm finished with them. This prevents me from getting overwhelmed when I see all of the ingredients in front of me on the counter.
I also don't like to operate out of a messy kitchen, so I like to do the dishes as I go, or at least rinse them so that it makes the dish washing process easier when I'm all done.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Experiment in the kitchen and be creative!
Don't be afraid to fail. Not all recipes will turn out perfectly, but you learn as you go. Taste the recipe once it's all done. If it's not up to your taste standards, make notes about what's missing and how you could improve upon it next time.
It's all about testing and modifying until you have perfected your recipes.
Have fun with it!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would invite all of my family and friends since I love spending time with them the most.
I would probably make pasta and meatballs from scratch, along with a healthy caesar salad. I love making pasta sauces with fresh and flavourful ingredients. And who doesn't like spaghetti and meatballs?
Dessert would consist of something involving chocolate! Perhaps a warm and fudge-y chocolate pudding cake. Yum!
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I'm not a huge craft person, although I'm sure I could be if I had more time!
I love fitness and working out at the gym. I also spend a lot of time researching the latest nutrition trends and recipes for my own personal interest and to help out my clients.
Operating my blog Haute & Healthy Living has also become a huge hobby of mine. I love making food look pretty, so I get a lot of enjoyment out of the food styling and photography process.
Finally I'm a huge fan of anything related to style and beauty, and enjoy doing some modelling from time to time.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
I love to read Pinch of Yum. They provide amazing recipes and advice to food bloggers!
I also find a lot of food and recipe inspiration on Oh She Glows. Great recipes!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
