When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I started cooking from a very young age, I remember helping out my mum all the time with the cooking and I used to absolutely love it. My oldest memory related to food goes back to the age 10, cooking a simple tomato pasta with some help from my mum. Looking bad at it, for my age it didn't taste bad at all.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is quite spacious and has every kitchen gadget needed to cook most recipes. Everything is organised really well so I can find everything I need as soon as I start cooking, otherwise it's a little frustrating. Although I organise all my materials, I have to admit I am quite a messy cook, I can't tidy up as I go, other than having a bowl for all the waste.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Ironically, I would say that organisation is key. Have all your ingredients and cooking equipment put before you start cooking. Other than that, have a waste bowl where you put all your vegetable peelings and waste. Lastly, I recommend following videos on Youtube, there is no better way of learning how to cook than following step by step videos on Youtube. You can also follow my instagram page (@foodbyalam) and follow my easy recipes if you are learning how to cook.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
My dream dinner party would have one guest only because of how special he is- Gordon Ramsey. From a young age, I've been obsessed with his recipes and the shows he is. I find him a big inspiration and don't just love him because of his cooking or his recipes, but also because of his personality. I would love to cook a 4 course meal for him (something more on the fancy side) and let him rate it or judge it. We know he's known for his criticisms. And honestly? I wouldn't even mid getting criticised by Gordon Ramsey as there is nothing funnier than his insults. So Gordon, if you see this, hit me up, let's plan a dinner hahah.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
As a current university student, I don't have much time to have a lot of hobbies on the side, so I try to focus the most on my cooking. Cooking is what relaxes me when I am stressed out because of university. Other than that, sometimes I enjoy reading.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
If I am honest, I don't ready many cooking blogs, I am more of a Instagram account kind of girl. There are sooo many amazing food accounts on Instagram with so many delicious recipes that there is no way I would be able to choose one of them!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I just want to say I am very grateful for this opportunity and I sincerely hope you all love my recipes. Make sure to check out my Instagram for more @foodbyalam and remember, criticism isn't always bad, especially if it comes from THE MAN Gordon, use it as a way to learn and improve. Lots of love <3
