When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I get asked this a lot but it’s actually a difficult question for me to answer because I don’t really remember what inspired me initially. I just remember always being in the kitchen. Mum tells me I would sit in our kitchen sink as a baby and help her wash the vegetables for dinner. I moved on to wanting to try creating my own recipes when I was at Kindergarten.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
I LOVE my kitchen.. of course I wish it was bigger with more ovens! But for now - it's great! I have plenty of surface space to knead and roll out my doughs.
How do I keep it organized? I try to make sure I clean up as I go and put things away where they are supposed to go.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Keep trying and practicing and don't feel bad when something doesn't work out. It's important to have fun!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would love to have my favorite New Zealand chefs Nadia Lim and Chelsea Winter at my dinner party. I would also love British Chef Anthony from Tree cafe to come - I bet we'd have the best night! Chelsea Winter is a plant based eater now - so of course everything would be vegan - I am thinking I'd cook up an Indian curry with naan and have something delicious for dessert (I love trifle so I'd like to fancy it up a little ...).
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love making and building things (especially with my dad). Recently we made a pizza oven and the whole family have been enjoying pizza parties. We also made a desk and study area for me so I can have a quiet place to work.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
I don't really spend a lot of time online ... yet! But I love reading Cookbooks and recently for my birthday got Jamie Oliver's 7 Ways and Julia Child's cookbook - so I am enjoying reading those!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I love cooking, during COVID lockdown last year - I made it my mission to cook everyday - which I still do. I also started online cooking lessons for kids - firstly for children throughout Japan and then kids from around the world. I have taught kids in Italy, Poland, France, Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Russia and more! I hope to continue on cooking and hopefully inspiring more kids to give cooking a go. ^_^ Thank you again for this opportunity to become a Cooking Superstar!
