When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
My mother was a Home Economics teacher, so I started cooking at a young age with her. I don't remember my first recipe but, as a teenager, I was famous for making Chocolate Cake for my family.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is like a time warp - it's a classic 80's kitchen with apricot laminate counters and white cabinets. However, it has windows on 3 sides and if full of beautiful light. I keep it organized while cooking by making sure I put the ingredients away while I'm waiting for steps to finish and I clean up the kitchen while my food is cooking. If I don't do that, the kitchen is chaotic!
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Keep on trying! Even experienced cooks have flops. My kids love my mistakes as I let them eat it straight away. "Did it work out?" is met with a cheer when I say "no".
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would invite all my family from Australia and we would have a classic home cooked meal, maybe a Roast Lamb and vegetables followed by fruit and Sticky Date Pudding.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love photography, gardening, reading and playing the piano and flute.
