When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I grew up baking homemade cutout gingerbread cookies every Christmas with my mom and sister. I looked forward to it all year because it's the only time I got to experience baking from scratch. I loved the entire process and would sit in front of the oven to watch them bake. It wasn't until college when I got serious about baking and would spend all my free time creating cakes and cupcakes.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
It's small but has tons of counter space which I am very grateful for! It's also bright and open to our living room so I still get to bug my boyfriend with my singing when he's watching TV. I placed all the tools and ingredients I need for baking in the cabinets surrounding my primary workspace. I also try to isolate my messes so I rest my spatulas or butter wrappers in one spot on my counter. It's not a perfect system but it helps!
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
The best way to learn is by failure. You won't know what works without finding out what doesn't. Just keep on baking because you'll get better and better each time.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
This question makes me anxious because then I worry about making sure I DON'T embarrass myself in front of my idols. Ha! So I would say all of my closest friends that I never get to see because of distance. We would make homemade pizzas and I would bake a big cheesecake for us to devour.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Alongside baking, I have fallen in love with food photography. I'm still pretty new to it but I love learning and growing. I also enjoy staying active and going on hikes or hitting up the gym. I have to balance out all of the cookies I eat!
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
I'm not sure if this one counts but I love Delish...especially their celebrity smackdowns. Outside of that I primarily stick to Instagram feeds. I love Cloudy Kitchen, The Sweet and Simple Kitchen, Broma Bakery, and A Cookie Named Desire.
