You Will Need (7 things)
- 1 Zipper wide enough to fit around your neck
- Velcro strip
- Sewing Machine
- Matching Thread
- Pins
- 2 10 inch Zippers in contrasting colours
- Scissors
Steps (10 steps, 45 minutes)
-
1
To make a bow-tie you'll need a zipper long enough to fit your neck and two contrasting 10" zippers.
With the two 10" zippers zipped up, cut the top 3" with the zip pull off each zipper and place to one side.
-
2
Take the remaining 7" of each zipper and carefully unzip one of them. Pin either side of the opened zipper, with the toothed edge facing out, along the top and bottom of the closed zipper.
-
3
Sew in place.
-
4
Repeat these steps for the 3" pieces of zipper.
-
5
Pin the two ends of the zip together to create a loop.
-
6
Stitch in place.
-
7
Pin the loop in the middle of the long zipper, so that it lies flat.
-
8
Wrap the 3" strip around the loop and zipper, so that it squeezes the loop into a nice bow the zip pull sitting nicely at the front of the bow-tie. Pin the open edges at the bottom and sew in place.
-
9
Finally sew either end of a velcro strip to the back of the long zipper for your neck.
-
10
Trim off any loose threads and it's ready to wear!
