You can also get a hammer handy if you have one or a food processor to crush the Oreos (I have used a hammer but I prefer to just crush them with my fist)
You can also get a hammer handy if you have one or a food processor to crush the Oreos (I have used a hammer but I prefer to just crush them with my fist)
First step is to remove about 5 to 7 Oreos from the pack and set them aside for later.
Next take the remaining Oreos and crush them up (if you have a food processor it is quicker) crush them with the cream filling and all until they are finely crushed (Ilike mine to have a couple of bigger pieces here and there but not many)
Cream Cheese should be soft so you can have it sitting out for about 20 minutes I just heat mine up for about 20 seconds. Mix the cream cheese the entire package with the crushed Oreos in the bowl. Mix until all mixed together and mixture is mostly brown (may still see some white from Oreo cream filling). Mixture should be thick.
Get out your cookie sheet(or sheets) I use 2 so they have ample space to not touch each other. Get a sheet of wax paper big enough to cover the bottom of cookie sheet, place it on cookie sheet.
Go back to your bowl of mixture, now you are ready to form your balls. I make my balls smaller than golf balls they may be about 3/4 inch balls. The mixture will be oily and very easy to mold so make all of your balls placing them on the cookie sheet as you go along. I like to put mine in the fridger for at least an hour so them become firm they are easier to dip in the chocolate as firm balls.
While the balls are cooling grab your bag of Oreos you set aside and crush them up in the bag (they are for the tops of your finished truffles). Now you can also start to heat up your chocolate I dont heat all of my chocolate up at one time because I don't want to scorch it, so I dip my balls in batches.
Try to move as quickly as possible once it melts completely (I actually spoon some chocolate into a ladel and just drop the balls in there it is easier for me)but dip them whatever way is the easiest way for you (place each ball on the wax paper cookie sheet are you finish dipping them). Once you finish your batch sprinkle some crushed Oreos on top (I try to make my batches 10 or less because you want the chocolate to still be a little wet so the crushed Oreos will stick to the top when sprinkled). Continue with the dipping and sprinkling until all of the balls are done. I can usually get 36 balls from 1 pack of Oreos. I will upload my pics as soon as I finish another batch I had some on my computer but they got deleted I amke them pretty often!!
