You Will Need (5 things)

  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Needle & Thread
  • Pencil
  • Fabric Scraps

Steps (6 steps, 10 minutes)

  1. 1

    Create a template.
Using something round (such as a saucer), trace a circle onto a piece of paper. (You can also use a compass.)

  2. 2

    Cut out the template.
(An 8" diameter template produces a 4" finished flower.)

  3. 3

    Cut a fabric circle.
Trace around the template on the backside of your fabric; then cut it out.

  4. 4

    Baste the edges.
Using a thread and needle, turn the outside edge of the fabric circle under and baste.

  5. 5

    Gather the stitches.
Once you have basted around the entire circumference, gently pull your thread, pulling the stitches together.
Adjust the fabric flower as needed to create an even little flower.

  6. 6

    Knot your thread.
Once the flower is gathered tightly, knot your thread to secure it. You can then add a vintage button to the center for a finishing effect.

And that’s it! A lovely little yo-yo. Granny would be proud.
