first determine how long the tube should be, this depends on how many bobbins/spools you have to store. In my region you can get it at the most Home-improvement stores for 2-4 € per meter. I think a diameter of 25mm works best.
Take your piece of tube and do a straight cut from one end to the other.
Now make two holes through the tube at each end (I did this using a nail which I held with pliers and heated it with a lighter, but anything else will work, too)
Thread a piece of wire through both holes at each side and bend it over to fix it. Or use a bead, like I did. You can also use ribbon for this, it will be your attachment for the yarnholder, or, if you hang it like the longer one on my Photo, secures the spools from slipping out.
Basically, you're ready now...
...but if the tube is to long, you'll have to pierce it somewhere in the middle and hold it together with a small piece of wire or something, to prevent opening.
