Instructions

  1. Small bags 1242253299

First, collect all the plastic bags you want to use. I used lots of different colored bags, but if you want your yarn to be monochromatic, stick to one color bag. It's easiest to use bags of all the same material.

  2. Small neat 1242253326

Next, straighten out the bag so that its basically a rectangle. It should look like this picture. Don't worry about it being perfect, it doesn't really matter in the end.

  3. Small folded 1242253370

Now fold the bag vertically. I folded mine into fourths. Again, it doesn't really matter, it just makes it easier for you to cut it.

  4. Small cutting off handles 1242253639

    Cut off the handles...

  5. Small cutting off bottom 1242253651

... and the bottom of the bag

  6. Small cutting strip 1242253689

Next cut the bag horizontally into strips of about an inch. The thinner the bag, the fatter the strip should be.

  7. Small strip 1242253727

When you unfold the strip, it should look like this.

  8. Small pieces 1242253778

Repeat steps 2-6 until you have a lot of strips.

  9. Small attaching strips 1242254117

Loop the strips together and tighten them

  10. Small schnupel and yarn 1242254198

Once you loop a bunch of them together, you'll get a long string of plastic yarn. Use it the same way you would regular yarn. Example: playing with your cat =]
