Make a few of these cute little paper buttons and create a stretchy bracelet, or make a lot and thread them on string for a colorful garland.
Make a few of these cute little paper buttons and create a stretchy bracelet, or make a lot and thread them on string for a colorful garland.
Cut 4 strips of paper. For large discs, suitable for a garland, cut strips 3/4" wide by 11" long. For small discs, suitable for a bracelet, cut strips 3/8" by 6" long. Fold each strip in half.
Weave together to form a center square. Lay light green piece on table with the fold to the right. Insert loose ends of turquoise through light green. (Turquoise fold is at the top.) Insert olive through turquoise. (Olive fold is to the left.) Wrap blue around light green and insert loose ends through olive. (Blue fold is at the bottom.)
Pull all strips to tighten. Turn the piece on the diamond.
Start diagonal weaving, first strip. Fold top strip straight down (blue). Notice that the left edge of the blue strip is aligned with the points of the light green square.
Fold second strip (olive green) straight across from right to left. Again, the edge of the strip is aligned with the points of the blue square.
Fold third strip up (turquoise).
Pull last strip (light green) across from left to right and slide under the first strip. Pull strip through and tighten.
First weaving done.
Flip disc over and weave the other side in the same way, using the longer strips.
Weave both sides a second time, in the same manner. Trim excess from the 8 paper strip ends.
Thread a yarn needle with string or elastic beading cord and string together as desired.
