Description

Our friends are opening a new craft shop and we offered to help out by crafting up some sign and what better way to show off the wool selection than with some wool art.

Instructions

  1. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 095654 img 6960

To start, you'll need a square of wood.

  2. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 095719 img 6961

Mark the middle of the wood with chalk and section off into quarters.

  3. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 095748 img 6964

Hammer nails around the outline of the first and last squares.

  4. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 095826 img 6966

Sketch the shape of the letters inside the squares with chalk and then hammer nails around the outline.

  5. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 095922 img 6967

Wrap the tail from a ball of yarn around the first nail of the outline rectangle and knot to secure.

  6. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100158 img 6968

We're going to fill in the outline of the letters on the first and last letter, so zig zag the yarn between the outline and edge of the letter.

  7. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100251 img 6970

Zig-zag the yarn back down to make a cross design.

  8. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100311 img 6971

Continue working your way around the outline and letter.

  9. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100330 img 6972

For larger areas you might have to zig zag several times between different nails to fill the area enough.

  10. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100653 img 6973

Keep going until you're happy with the design and then wrap the yarn around the outline of the letter several times to make it nice and distinct.

  11. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100831 img 6974

Now hammer nails around just the outline of the second and third letters.

  12. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100900 img 6975

Fill in the second and third letter with yarn.

  13. Small 108888 2f2015 05 16 100933 img 6977

Fill in the outline of the final letter and you're done.
