Cut Out + Keep

Woodsy Spiral

Simple techniques showcase a vintage button

https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/woodsy-spiral • Posted by MoonBell

The button in this piece is actually a vintage button from my Grandma's stash, but I'm sure you can find a cute button or focal bead that is your style! The necklace is made in the basic beaded spiral stitch, and the flower is formed around the button in an expanding netting technique. The amount of seed beads used is just a guess, since I don't have a scale. I chose seed beads in colors that I felt would showcase my vintage button, but you could do them in complementary or contrasting colors for your button. Have fun. and if you're inspired, put a pic up for me to see. A note about seed beads: having perfect seed beads is not crucial to this project, so you can just grab some of the cheap ones at your local superstore. Of course, better beads usually translates to less fading & more even stitching, so it's up to you!
