Wire Bird's Nest Jewelry Set

Steps (10 steps, 90 minutes)

1. 1

   measure out 4 lengths of copper wire, 12 inches each. (i used two different colors and gauges for each nest, for a total of 8 lengths of wire, instead of four). for the pictures in the tutorial, i used silver and gold wire, but for the set i made for myself i used brown and regular copper-colored wire.

   thread three beads onto the center of one length of wire. if you're using two different kinds of wire, you'll thread the beads to the center of both wires. my second length of wire wouldn't fit through, so i added it at step 4.

   bend the wire around the beads so the beads are in a cluster

   continue to wrap the wire around the cluster of beads, weaving the ends in and out of each other to keep the wire tight.

   using the needle nose pliers, twist the ends of the wire into little loops. this also adds character to the nest :)

   repeat steps 1-5 for each nest you make.

   when the nest is finished, slip the length of cord through one of the wire loops in the nest. tie a knot in the cord, and you have your necklace.

   secure the other nests to the french hook earrings by slightly opening one of the loops on the nest and hooking it onto the hoop at the bottom of the french hook.

    the ring was trickier, and i didn't take any pictures when i made it because it was a figure-it-out-as-you-go kinda thing.

    basically, i just took another twelve inches of wire, wrapped it through the bottom wires of the nest, secured it with more wire, then wrapped it around a highlighter to get the shape of the ring, and then twisted the ends around the ring-part of the piece.
