Instructions

1. For the blanket Using a 5.5mm (US size I/9) hook and yarn A, work a foundation ch of 143 sts. Row 1: 3tr in 6th ch from hook (missed 5-ch counts as 1tr and missed 2 ch), *[miss 2 ch, 3tr in next ch] 3 times, ch2, 3tr in next ch, [miss 2 ch, 3tr in next ch] 3 times, miss 3 ch, 3tr in next ch; rep from * to end, fi nishing last repeat with miss 2 ch, 1tr in last ch. Forty-eight 3-tr clusters. Row 2: Change to yarn B, ch3 (counts as 1tr throughout), *[3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next 2-ch sp, [3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, miss 1 sp; rep from * to last st, 1tr in last st. Row 3: Change to yarn C, ch3, *[3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next 2-ch sp, [3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, miss 1 sp; rep from * to last st, 1tr in last st. Row 4: Change to yarn D, ch3, *[3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next 2-ch sp, [3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, miss 1 sp; rep from * to last st, 1tr in last st. Row 5: Change to yarn E, ch3, *[3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next 2-ch sp, [3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, miss 1 sp; rep from * to last st, 1tr in last st. Row 6: Change to yarn A, ch3, *[3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next 2-ch sp, [3tr in next sp between clusters] 3 times, miss 1 sp; rep from * to last st, 1tr in last st. Rows 2 to 6 form patt, cont in patt as set until work measures 152cm (60in), ending after a yarn A row. Fasten off.

2. FOR THE BORDER Round 1: With RS facing, using a 5.5mm (US size I/9) hook, join yarn E in first st after top right corner, ch1, *1dc in each st to next corner, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in corner, 2dc in each row end to corner, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in corner; rep from * once more, join with a sl st in first dc. Round 2: Ch1, *1dc in each st to next corner, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in corner sp; rep from * 3 more times, 1dc in each st to end, join with a sl st in first dc. Fasten off.

3. 

   Making up and finishing Weave in all ends and block as desired to neaten. MAKE IT YOURS/ Create thicker stripes by working more rows in each shade before changing to the next colour yarn. TIP You can use a locking stitch marker to mark out the third stitch in the chain, to help you see where to insert the hook at the end of the next row. Adding the border is a great way to keep the sides of the blanket neat – be sure to keep the yarn joins fl ush to the work to keep the border even.
