Description

Wrapping your wet hair in a towel can be heavy and awkward. Here is an easy tutorial to create your own hair towel wrap that is light weight and not neck breaking. Find the pattern attached.

Instructions

  1. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 222832 img 9053

You will need: Pattern -attached or make your own Fabric - 3/4 yard of terry cloth Elastic - 1 elastic hair band or a piece of elastic Button - 1 inch or larger Needle/Thread/Pins Sewing Machine

  2. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 223247 img 9051

You can make your own pattern similar to the picture or use the pattern attached. If you make your own it should be at least 24 inches long and the width at the widest part at least 10 inches.

  3. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 223323 img 9054

Cut 2 of your fabric. You can use terry cloth or recycle any old towels you may have.

  4. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 223610 curvededge

Because terry cloth frays A LOT I prefer to finish my seams using a french seam. Pin your two pieces, right sides together and sew 1/4 inch around curved edge.

  5. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 223727 img 9058

Trim seam down to 1/8th. Turn inside out and iron your seam flat. Now sew 3/8th around the curved edge again. Turn right side out and iron seam.

Now you have pretty seam on the inside as well as the outside.

  7. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 225200 elastic

Next you'll need to finish the bottom hem and attach your elastic. Do this by folding up your raw edge by 1/4 inch, twice. Insert your elastic in between the seam on the narrow end of your wrap.

  8. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 225826 bottomhem

Sew your folded edge in place all the way around. I back tack a couple of times when I reach the elastic to make sure it's nice and secure.

  9. Small 104653 2f2014 10 08 230035 img 9073

Sew your button onto the larger end of your wrap.
